It’s day two of Annie being at a horse show, and she is being a kids horse this weekend. So it’s time to practice before the big day of showing tomorrow.
We started off with one ginger because we know that she is chill and lazy, but sometimes she likes to pretend she’s wild. So if to get let her get that out of her system for just a minute and then she goes right back to being a deadhead. So this little saddle is so stinkin cute on her. The size of her belly and booty make it look so tiny and she’s about 15 to hands.
But I swear she looks so gigantic with this teeny tiny little rider and teeny tiny little saddle. But I did make me and Becca come up to the stands so that she keep her mouth shut because, as you know, an equestrian, when your kids start writing, I don’t have kids yet, but I can only imagine you want to yell at them what to do and to put their hands up and to put their heels down and all the things.
And sometimes it’s better to let a third party tell them to do those things. They listen better that way. So now Rebecca’s daughter does go to Lessons weekly, and so she has her own trainer and it’s a hunter trainer. This is an 88 day show and it’s a very small one. It is like the perfect first show for somebody.
So my trainers are helping her out at this show, which is amazing of them. I’m so grateful because they know Annie really well and they’ve been riding her for me while she’s there and lunging her and all the things. It took her a minute in the big arena to get her at a nice pace, but then she was just going at it like she was a pro.
I was so proud of her. The one thing we wanted to make sure is that she got in the big arena before tomorrow so that she could practice winding up in the middle, reversing, figuring out where she’s supposed to be at on the rail, and just like learning to be around other horses and listening to someone else and it’s a lot for a seven year old.
I mean, but she did amazing. She was soaking it all in, listening so good, like I said, for taking lessons for a year and she’s been on my horses her entire life. But her little leg, she is having to push Annie so hard. So her little C and hands and leg were looking so good. I mean, thinking about all of the different things she’s having to think about that she’s never experienced before.
On top of thinking about her riding position and keeping Annie going, it’s got to be so difficult. So we were super proud of her for how well she did this evening, and we are so excited for her first time ever showing tomorrow. Yeah, these two are BFFs right here. Annie and Rebecca. I have a type, you know, I like the ones that are pretty, but they don’t look very nice.
So after she had her little lesson, we took Annie back, pampered it a little bit. It did take two of us to put that girth on. That baby belly is no joke. And then we let the little girl’s groomer up and get her ready for bed. And we gave her her dinner, and she much deserved it. She is literally the best girl ever.
So Rebecca went in to put her sleazy on, which is why she was giving Rebecca like the mayor ears. She hated her for it. But we got to keep that main laid down. Nice for tomorrow, keep her all shiny, and then she can come home this coming week and go back to being a fat lard in the field.
But until then, she’s got to be a show horse.
That little saddle must have been adorable, especially at the show. Whether it’s a beginner rider or a show-ready horse, moments like these really capture the charm of equestrian life. How did the horse do at the show?
